The Andrews Labor Government has today confirmed the reappointment of Mr Andrew Greaves as Victoria’s Auditor-General.

The appointment was recommended by the Victorian Parliament’s multi-party Public Accounts and Estimates Committee.

The Auditor-General is an independent officer of the Parliament with responsibilities for auditing public sector entities, ensuring these entities continue to operate in the best interests of Victorians.

The Victorian Auditor-General’s Office conducts financial and performance audits of state and local government public sector entities.

Mr Greaves has more than 30 years’ experience in public sector auditing at federal, state and local government levels and has served as Victorian Auditor-General since 2016.

Mr Greaves was the Auditor-General of Queensland from 2011 to 2016. From 2003 to 2011, Mr Greaves held various roles at the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office, including Assistant Auditor-General (Performance Audit) and Assistant Auditor-General (Financial Audit).

The role of the Auditor-General fulfils a critical function for the community, ensuring public sector entities are transparent and accountable to the Victorian Parliament, making recommendations that increase efficiency and effectiveness of government organisations and promoting confidence in Victoria’s public sector.
