NEW SCHOOL BUS SERVICES FOR WERRIBEE STUDENTS

Getting to and from school will now be easier for students at Werribee Secondary College, thanks to the introduction of a new school special bus service.

From Monday 24 April, a new morning and afternoon school bus will provide a direct public transport option for students living in the Riverwalk Estate in Werribee who attend the College.

Werribee Secondary College is among the first of 14 schools benefitting from the new services. It comes as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s $25 million investment to introduce, modify, and extend school bus services across the state, with a focus on growth areas.

The services will initially target recently opened schools in growth areas where student demand is high and school bus services can be introduced, expanded, or rerouted to take in these locations.

Other schools benefitting from new school bus services in term two are Springside West Secondary College, Clyde Secondary College and Mount Ridley College.

The Werribee Secondary College school special will depart at 8:10am from a newly built stop at Alfred Road in Riverwalk Estate, stopping at multiple locations along a route that takes in Coldstream Avenue, District Avenue, Newmarket Road, Westleigh Drive, Lyall Drive, Anne Street, Princes Highway, Werribee Street, Princes Hwy and on to Werribee Secondary College on Duncans Rd.

The morning service leaves Alfred Road at 8.10am arriving at the school 10 minutes before the 8:50am bell.  The afternoon service around 3.15pm retraces the morning route back to Alfred Rd. Parents can contact their school for more information on services.

The Labor Government invested $109 million in the Victorian Budget 2022/23 to improve local bus services in growing areas and further puts into action Victoria’s Bus Plan to meet demand, enhance accessibility and performance, and deliver value for money for all passengers.

New services under the initiative are targeted to public school students being rolled out progressively with most new services to start in the 2024 school year.
