BOOST FOR LOCAL SPORTS CLUBS IN WERRIBEE

Grassroots sports clubs in the Werribee electorate are getting the equipment, skills and expertise they need to grow and be more competitive.

Tim Pallas MP today announced that clubs in Wyndham would share in more than $750,000 from the latest round of the Andrews Labor Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program.

The Sporting Club Grants Program is helping more people of all ages and abilities in Werribee to get involved in grassroots sports and get active.

There are grants for new modern uniforms and equipment, along with grants providing training programs for coaches, officials and volunteers.

In Wyndham, the following clubs have been successful in the latest round of the Sporting Club program:

  • $945 for the Werribee Bears Rugby League Sports Club to fund new equipment
  • $1000 for the Rhinos Basketball Academy for new uniforms
  • $1000 for the Werribee Districts Football Club to fund new pads and posts
  • $2000 for the Werribee Basketball Association for first aid training
  • $2000 for the Werribee Hockey Club to fund coach development
  • $1000 for PCYC Wyndham Boxing to fund new uniforms

The Sporting Club Grants Program is part of the Labor Government’s strategy to make sport more accessible and inclusive, support clubs and volunteers and boost participation at the grassroots level.

This comes on top of the Labor Government’s $120 million Community Sports Infrastructure Fund which is upgrading tired grounds and ageing pavilions, and building female-friendly change rooms across the state.
