NEW MANOR LAKES SCHOOL GETS OFF THE GROUND

Families in Melbourne’s growing south-western suburbs are a step closer to having an exciting new school close to home after a site was secured to build a future primary school in Manor Lakes.

Minister for Education James Merlino today announced land at Holyoake Parade, Manor Lakes has been purchased.

The new school will help meet the needs of the local growing population by providing a great education for students close to home.

The school will have space for 650 local students when it opens in 2023.

Holyoake Parade Primary School (interim name) shared in $491.565 million provided in the 2021-22 State Budget for new schools construction.

The 2021-22 State Budget also provided $276.4 million to purchase land for 14 future schools to meet growing population needs.

Over the past seven years, the Victorian Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools and more than 1,700 school upgrades, creating around 13,500 jobs in construction and associated industries.

It is ahead of schedule in its commitment to open 100 new schools by 2026, with 62 schools opening between 2019 and 2024.

The Victorian Government is building the Education State so that every student can receive a great education in their local area.
