MORE HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE GRANTS UP FOR GRABS IN WERRIBEE

The Andrews Labor Government is investing in better equipment and infrastructure for Wyndham hospitals, so they can keep providing the best treatment and care.

Minister for Health Jill Hennessy has invited health services to apply for a grant from the next round of the $35 million Medical Equipment Replacement Program and the $25 million Engineering Infrastructure Replacement Program.

These programs help hospitals keep up with new developments in medical equipment, while also improving efficiency and reliability by installing new models of hospital engineering infrastructure.

The Medical Equipment Replacement Program supports hospitals to replace ageing pieces of life-saving medical equipment with newer technology to improve patient outcomes. These may include the latest model CT scanners, x-ray rooms, MRI units, gamma cameras and angiography units.

The Engineering Infrastructure Replacement Program enables hospitals to replace heating and air conditioning systems, and nurse call communication systems, as well as upgrading electrical, water and fire services and lifts.

All Victorian acute public hospitals are eligible to apply for the $60 million worth of grants on offer.

In the 2016/17 funding round, 20 health services and public health reference laboratories shared in $35 million funding to replace essential medical equipment and $25 million was provided to 21 health services for the replacement of engineering infrastructure.

The Victorian Budget 2017/18 delivered $1.67 billion to support hospitals meet demand and provide the high quality care Victorian patients deserve.

In addition, the Labor Government is providing $428.5 million in new hospital upgrades and equipment to give our hardworking doctors and nurses the world-class facilities they need to save lives and keep Victorians healthy.
