LOCAL ORGANISATIONS TAKE2 ON CLIMATE CHANGE ACTION

Member for Werribee, Tim Pallas today congratulated Wyndham City Council for their pledges to TAKE2 on climate change action.

Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio joined TAKE2 ambassadors Alex Rance, Bianca Chatfield and James Kelly to launch the Pledge Action Day at the MCG on Thursday.

The TAKE2 pledge encourages all Victorians to play a part in reaching the Andrews Labor Government’s target of net zero emissions by 2050.

More than 160 TAKE2 Founding Partners – including local government, business, education and community organisations – will work to reduce their emissions and are encouraging their communities to do the same.

The TAKE2 pledge program, led by Sustainability Victoria, gives businesses and organisations already taking significant action on climate change the opportunity to showcase and build upon their work to-date, while motivating others to make their own contributions to reduce emissions.

The Government is playing its part too, making it mandatory for all Victorian government departments to pledge actions to reduce emissions and move towards low carbon technologies and practices.

Every Victorian can play a vital role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions to ensure Victoria makes a meaningful contribution to keeping global temperature rises to under two degrees by taking the pledge at www.take2.vic.gov.au and committing to taking practical actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
