LOCAL MPs ATTEND DUSHERA FESTIVAL

Natalie Hutchins, Member for Keilor, Marlene Kairouz, Member for Kororoit and Tim
Pallas, Member for Tarneit attended the Dushera Festival at the Rockbank Temple
on Sunday. 

The Dushera Festival is one of the largest events in the Indian Community. Dushera is
celebrated to mark victory of good over the evil.

“It has been excellent to see the success of such a vibrant cultural event,” said Ms.
Hutchins. 

“The Dushera Festival was a great chance to learn more about Indian culture and meet so many members of the local Indian community,” said Mr. Pallas.

The Members participated in fundraising for The East-West Overseas Aid Foundation, organised by Jasvinder Sidhu of the Australia India Society of Victoria. The East-West
Overseas Aid Foundation focuses on development programs that cover health care, relief for children at risk, education, community development and environmental sustainability.

“The East West Overseas Aid Foundation does excellent work in supporting communities in India.It’s a great opportunity to support this organisation,” said Ms. Kairouz.

The Rockbank Temple President, Kulwant Joshi welcomed such initiatives and thanked all MPs and fundraisers.

Particular thanks must go to Alex Singh, Gursharan Singh and Ramandeep; who all made very generous donations.
