LIFESAVING PROJECTS NOW UNDERWAY AROUND WERRIBEE

Some of the most dangerous roads and intersections around Werribee are being made safer as the Andrews Labor Government continues its unprecedented investment in lifesaving road safety infrastructure.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas said works to deliver safer intersections at Werribee Street and Watton Street are now underway here in Werribee.

This is part of the Andrew Labor Government’s $226 million investment into safety upgrades, with hundreds of new projects reaching more communities than ever before.

Through 2020, this will include more than 340 kilometres of new safety barriers installed across the state to prevent head-on and run-off-road crashes.

Drivers and pedestrians in Werribee will be safer with the introduction of fully controlled right turns on both approaches of Werribee Street, to prevent risky turns across traffic or while pedestrians are still crossing. Additionally, partial control right turn movements being implemented on Watton Street along with traffic signal improvements for pedestrians will create a safer system for both drivers and pedestrians.

All these upgrades are part of the Andrews Labor Government’s $1.4 billion Towards Zero Strategy.
