HUGE NEW WYNDHAM POLICE COMPLEX AS POLICE NUMBERS GROW

Construction on the new Wyndham policing hub is underway as the Andrews Labor Government’s record investment in policing continues to support safer communities in Melbourne’s west.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today met with local police officers and helped kick off construction for the new $45 million station, which will be one of the largest police complexes outside the Melbourne CBD.

Following a competitive tender process, police have appointed Fairbrother Construction to deliver the state-of-the-art police complex, with the construction expected to be complete by the end of 2020.

The new facility will provide the hardworking police officers in the region the facilities they need to support the Wyndham community, and has been designed to support the huge population growth planned across Melbourne’s west.

The purpose-built complex will be able to house more than 460 staff and officers, including uniformed, crime investigation, transit safety officers and administration staff, amongst others.

The Wyndham Police Complex will be located at 134 Princes Highway, behind the current police station. The old station will be demolished once the new complex has been completed.

It forms part of the broader Wyndham Justice Precinct being developed as part of the Werribee National Employment and Innovation Cluster.

The Andrew’s Labor Government provided more than $45 million to build the police station as part of the Community Safety Statement 2017.

This is part of the government’s record $3 billion investment in policing, which is giving Victoria Police the resources, powers and laws it needs to keep the Victorian community safe.

As part of this investment, more than 1900 of the Andrews Labor Government’s 3135 new police have already been deployed or allocated across the state, including 93 to the Westgate Division, which includes Wyndham.
