GREEN LIGHT FOR EAST WERRIBEE ROAD UPGRADES

Locals in Wyndham will soon benefit from a $13 million road improvement project in East Werribee.

Tim Pallas MP, the Member for Werribee, made the announcement at the East Werribee Employment Precinct today.

The East Werribee Employment Precinct will become a key employment and investment area in Melbourne’s west. Improving infrastructure in this area is essential to support
the local community and increased local traffic.

The works package includes upgrades to two key intersections near the East Werribee Precinct:

  • Princes Hwy and Sneydes Rd
  • Princes Hwy, Hoppers Ln and Old Geelong Rd

The first stage of the road improvements project – the construction of a new interchange at Sneydes Rd – is already underway and is due to be completed in late 2016.

The final stage of the East Werribee road improvements project includes improving and widening Sneydes Rd to cater for more traffic. It will take place later in the year.

The ageing traffic signals will be upgraded for a safer and balanced operation of the busy
intersection. Both intersections will receive upgraded street lighting for improved
visibility and safety.

The Princes Hwy, Old Geelong Rd and Hoppers Ln intersection will be widened to allow for additional lanes.

The footpaths will also be connected with the new pedestrian crossing for easier access to a
nearby medical clinic, schools, Werribee Mercy Hospital and Hoppers Crossing
Train Station.

Construction for the entire package of works is expected to be completed in late 2016.
