GIVING TROUBLED YOUNG PEOPLE THE HELP THEY NEED TO GET BACK ON THEIR FEET

The Andrews Labor Government and Melbourne City Mission are joining forces to help keep young people experiencing homelessness in Werribee safe – and help them get back on their feet.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today marked the beginning of construction of the Melbourne City Mission’s Youth Accommodation Support Service, made possible thanks to $3.5 million from the Labor Government.

The Labor Government’s Accommodation for the Homeless program is about making sure Victorians doing it tough can get the safety and security of a roof over their head – and access the services they need to turn their lives around.

The Werribee Youth Accommodation Support Service will provide accommodation and support for up to 10 young people aged between 16 and 25, with highly-qualified staff providing a range of support including counselling, health services, legal services, education and independent living skills.

While keeping young people safe, it will also provide them with the education and life skills they need to transition to independence.

Melbourne City Mission is building the new Werribee Youth Service in partnership with the Property Industry Foundation.
