FUNDING TO SUPPORT CULTURALLY DIVERSE SENIORS GROUPS

Multicultural seniors organisations in Victoria will receive a $6.8 million boost over four years through a new round of grants.

The Multicultural Senior Citizens Organisational Support grants are intended to provide financial assistance to non-profit clubs and groups who support seniors from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Member for Werribee, Tim Pallas is urging all local groups who might be eligible for these grants to apply.

With almost a third of Victorians aged 65 years and over with culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse heritage, this funding represents an investment in preserving and embracing multiculturalism in the state.

Funding of up to $5,000 per year over four years is available to eligible organisations to assist with operational costs and general activities to meet the needs of its members.

Interested organisations can find out more and apply online at http://www.multicultural.vic.gov.au/grants/apply-for-a-grant

Hard copy applications are available by contacting the multicultural grants team by email community.grants@dpc.vic.gov.au or phone 1300 366 356.

Organisations currently receiving a seniors grant will need to reapply.
