CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY AT THE WERRIBEE RACES

Racegoers can kick start the festive season early this year at the Werribee Cup, thanks to a funding package of more than $115,000.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today announced the Andrews Labor Government is kicking in more than $20,000 from its Victorian Racing Industry Fund – Raceday Attraction Program to support the Werribee Racing Club’s popular race meeting this Sunday.

This year racegoers can look forward to cheering on a quality field, whilst enjoying a range of fun family activities including children’s face painting, mini golf, jumping castles, and Kelly Sports entertainment.

There will also be Fashions on the Field event with $4,000 worth of prizes; live music from Madz Got Rich Duo, Soul Obsession, Eternity and Wild Style; and shuttle buses between Werribee Station and the racecourse.

The Werribee Racing Club is providing more than $94,000 towards the event.

Since December 2014, the Labor Government has provided almost $1.1 million to support seven racing events and six infrastructure projects at the Werribee Racing Club.

The thoroughbred racing industry in outer Melbourne generates $829.8 million for the Victorian economy and helps sustain over 7,000 full time equivalent jobs locally.
