BOOST FOR HEALTH & AGED CARE IN MELBOURNE’S WEST

Construction of a new hospital and aged care centre in Melbourne’s west is another step closer, with a planning permit now granted to build the first stage of St Vincent’s Private Hospital in East Werribee.

The St Vincents Private Hospital will include a life-saving cardiac catheter laboratory which will provide emergency, life-saving treatment for cardiovascular and coronary artery disease.

The Metropolitan Planning Authority has approved a planning permit for St Vincent’s Health Australia to build the new hospital, which will include 112 overnight beds, 6 operating theatres, 4 delivery suites, 5 special care nursery cots, cardiac catheter laboratory, day procedure unit, day oncology unit, rehabilitation facilities, consulting suites, and an 80-bed aged care facility.

The private hospital and aged care centre will create 320 health and professional services jobs, as well as significant employment opportunities during design and construction.

The $95 million St Vincent’s Private Hospital Werribee will be built on a 4 hectare site in Hoppers Lane, within the East Werribee Employment Precinct.

The Andrews Labor Government has worked closely with St Vincent’s Health to progress this major healthcare investment, fulfilling a commitment to boosting infrastructure in growth areas and creating jobs.
