APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR GROWING SUBURBS FUND

Wyndham City Council is one of 10 Victorian councils eligible to apply for funding from the Andrews Government’s $50 million Growing Suburbs Fund, with applications opening today.

The fund will assist councils like Wyndham to build the community centres, town hubs, playgrounds, parks and reserves they need to ensure our outer suburban communities don’t get left behind.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas along with Member for Altona Jill Hennessy and Member for Tarneit Telmo Languiller said that accelerating the delivery and renewal of critical infrastructure, such as sporting facilities, maternal and child health centres and community spaces will ensure Wyndham City Council is better prepared and equipped to provide services when and where they are needed.

Last year, grants were awarded for community, environmental and economic local infrastructure, such as family and community centres, town centre and civic revitalisation projects and open space and amenity improvements.

The Growing Suburbs Fund is one of a raft of initiatives to support Victorian communities included in the Victorian Budget 2016-17.

Applications close Friday 29 July 2016 with successful applicants to be announced in November.
