WYNDHAM SPORTS CLUB SCORES NEW-LOOK FACILITIES

Wyndham Track and Field Club can now meet the growing demands of sport clubs in the Western Metropolitan region thanks to a $31,148 upgrade through the Victorian Government’s Pick My Project initiative.

The Member for Werribee, The Hon. Tim Pallas MP attended the club at Victoria University in Werribee today to view the new-look facilities and meet some of the locals who will benefit from the upgrade.

Wyndham Track and Field Club is a multiuse facility hosting community sporting teams, community events and school carnivals. The only athletics facility in the City of Wyndham, it hosts overs 20,000 participants per year and is the permanent home to four sporting clubs.

To ensure the club could continue to meet the growing community’s needs, the upgrade included resurfacing the outdoor playing area and a new outdoor shelter for spectators to use during sporting and community events.

Pick My Project is a Victorian Government first – a $30 million participatory budgeting initiative that puts decision making in the hands of Victorians.

Pick My Project has awarded funding to 237 successful project ideas state-wide, with funding allocated between the six metropolitan and nine regional partnership areas. The Wyndham Track and Field Club upgrade is one of 25 successful projects from the Pick My Project initiative in the Western Metropolitan region.

The region received more than $2.8 million in funding through the initiative, after a total of 22,864 were cast across the region.
