WYNDHAM SCHOOLS SHARE IN $3.5 MILLION MAINTENANCE FUNDS BOOST

Students at 79 schools across the state will soon benefit from having maintenance works carried out at their schools thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino today announced that 79 schools will share in $3.5 million of Planned Maintenance Program funding to help address their various maintenance needs.

Suzanne Cory High School will be one school to receive $25,000 in funds to do essential work such as painting, resurfacing floors and replacing windows, and fixing roofs, as well as repairing landscaping like pathways and stairs.

The Planned Maintenance Program provides funding for vital maintenance works based on need.

A new evaluation system was put in place last year to provide more up-to-date information on the condition of school infrastructure to create a more timely and targeted allocation of PMP funding.

Schools will also benefit from the $515 million Maintenance Blitz investment announced in September 2019. This funding will maintain existing school infrastructure over the next five years to keep Victoria’s 1500 schools safe and modern.

Today’s investment is in addition to $6.1 billion already invested in Victorian school infrastructure over the past budgets, which is delivering more than 1,400 school upgrades and supporting over 7,500 construction jobs for Victorians.
