WYNDHAM CLUBS URGED TO APPLY FOR SPORTING CLUB GRANTS

Sports clubs across Wyndham are being urged to apply for a share of millions of dollars in funding available to buy equipment and uniforms, boost administrative skills and improve operations

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today announced applications had opened for the Andrews Labor Government’s 2020-21 Sporting Club Grants Program.

The Victorian Budget 2020/21 added a further $6 million to the popular program, building on the more than $1.8 million kicked in by the Government for more than 1,200 clubs across the state last year.

The grants provide clubs up to $1,000 for new uniforms and equipment, up to $5,000 for training coaches, officials and volunteers, up to $5,000 to improve club operational effectiveness and up to $5,000 to help sports get back on their feet after the pandemic.

They will help people of all ages and abilities take part in grassroots sport, no matter where they live and are a great boost for clubs who are looking to get back on track following coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.

The Sporting Club Grants Program is part of the Government’s commitment to make sport more accessible and inclusive, stimulate local economies, build sustainable sport and recreation and volunteer opportunities and increase local participation.

Since coming to office, the Government has provided more than 4,950 sporting club with grants totalling more than $6.8 million.
