TRAINS TO WYNDHAM VALE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND MORE BUSES

Trains to Wyndham Vale’s new station will run every 10 minutes in the morning peak, at least every 20 minutes off-peak on weekdays and will be complemented by more frequent,
reliable and direct bus services.

Minister for Public Transport, Jacinta Allan, today released the timetable for the much
anticipated opening of Labor’s $3.65 billion Regional Rail Link project on 21 June, Melbourne’s first new major rail line in 80 years.

Member for Werribee, Tim Pallas, said the new timetable revealed a massive boost in transport for Wyndham, including trains to the Wyndham Vale Station for the first time and a new bus network.

Not only will Geelong line trains service the new station, but four trains each day will originate at Wyndham Vale Station in the morning peak and two will terminate at Wyndham Vale in the afternoon peak, boosting capacity and ensuring Wyndham locals get a seat.

Direct trains services to Wyndham Vale for the first time will be complemented by a huge-increase in bus services thanks to the new Wyndham Bus Network, which also comes into effect on 21 June.

The new network provides more extensive, frequent, reliable and direct bus services across Wyndham, coordinated with trains on the new Regional Rail Link line and Werribee Line.

Key features of the new Wyndham Bus Network include:

  • More direct routes along main roads including Ballan, Tarneit, Derrimut, Morris and Sayers Roads
  • More frequent services with thirteen bus corridors operating at least every 20 minutes in the peak
  • Buses to more parts of Wyndham Vale, Manor
Lakes, Tarneit, Truganina, Point Cook and Sanctuary Lakes
  • Buses coordinated with trains at the new Wyndham stations and stations on
    the Werribee line
  • Buses operating later with routes 170, 180, 190, 494 and 495 running until midnight on weekends
  • Better services to the Point Cook Town Centre and East Werribee
  • Double decker buses on some routes.

Locals can get a sneak peak of the new station ahead
of the start of services at the community open day,  which will be held between 10:00am and midday at Wyndham Station on Saturday 20 June. This free
community celebration will include entertainment, a sausage sizzle and
information about the new services for Wyndham.

Wyndham residents who use the Werribee line will also
benefit from the new timetable with two extra peak hour services on the
Werribee line to be introduced on 21 June thanks to the additional capacity
created by Regional Rail Link getting V/Line trains off the metropolitan
network.
