New $33 Million Wyndham Medical and Services Centre Opens

Continuing to build on the impressive health infrastructure now servicing Melbourne’s western suburbs, a new $33 million development will be formally opened in Werribee on Friday, June 8.

Highly credentialed property development company Techne Development (Techne) has developed the 4,600 square metres of medical and office accommodation, including State Government offices and the new home for NDIS in Wyndham.

The Wyndham Health Precinct located at Hoppers Lane in Werribee already includes a number of existing primary health care services, public and private hospitals and medical learning institutions – many also developed by Techne.

Techne Development Managing Director, Scott Vickers-Willis says the new project further consolidates the area as the leading healthcare precinct in Melbourne’s West.

“There’s no doubt the western suburbs of Melbourne are booming in population growth and in particular in Wyndham, which has regularly recorded one of the fastest growth rates in Australia,” he says.

”It  is certainly clear to us that this region with its growing number of young, culturally diverse families is demanding – and deserving of – the best medical and related facilities that we can bring to the area. We’re delighted to now be able to deliver that.”

“Sitting adjacent to St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Werribee Mercy Hospital, Wyndham Clinic Private Hospital and Wyndham Private Medical Centre, these striking new developments will certainly be a significant addition to the already burgeoning health and learning precinct in Hoppers Lane,” says Mr Vickers-Willis

The development will be officially opened by Tim Pallas MP, Victorian Treasurer and Member for Werribee at 10.30am on Friday, June 8.

Mr Pallas says “As we build the infrastructure and services our growing population needs, it’s great to have Techne supporting that work and bringing vital assets and jobs to Wyndham.”

The new development features:

  • More than 4,600 m2 of office and medical accommodation
  • 150 onsite car parks, including 28 basement car parks
  • Cafe
  • Modern contemporary fit-out and design
  • Proximity and integration to Wyndham’s public and private hospitals, universities and public transport nodes

Techne also will start development on a 150 place childcare centre in July 2018, due to be completed early 2019.

The company is also the builder of the new $120 million national headquarters of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and other Commonwealth departmental offices in Geelong’s CBD.

“We are delighted to continue to support the Wyndham area with these new facilities,” says Mr Vickers-Willis “And also pleased that having finished the construction phase which employed over100 people over the past 12 months, we can now expect to see some 150 local and ongoing jobs to support the new services.”
