Werribee Line passengers will be able to enjoy reduced travel times to and from new destinations at Domain and Parkville, thanks to the $11 billion Metro Tunnel project.

New modelling released today shows travel times to the St Kilda Road employment and residential precinct and the Shrine of Remembrance will be slashed on multiple lines.

On the Werribee line passengers will save up to 10 minutes off their journey to Parkville and up to 5 minutes to St Kilda Road.

Passengers across Melbourne will also benefit as the Metro Tunnel delivers quicker, more convenient journeys and hassle-free connections for tens of thousands of people each day.

This seamless interchange between train lines and frequent services is a hallmark of metro-style “turn-up-and-go” systems around the world.

The Metro Tunnel will take our busiest train lines through a new tunnel, freeing up space in the City Loop to run more trains more often. Victoria’s biggest transport project is creating nearly 7000 jobs – including 500 apprentices, trainees and engineering cadets.

“The Metro Tunnel will not only free up space in the City Loop, it will ensure <line> passengers can get where they need to go, safer and sooner.”

“It’s all part of the Andrews Labor Government’s work to build the turn up and go train network Victorians deserve – delivering more jobs closer to your home, and more trains more often.”
