BUILDING BOOST FOR VICTORIAN SCHOOLS

The Werribee community will soon benefit from a massive school infrastructure boost, with the Andrews Labor Government delivering new schools and upgrades across the Catholic and independent education sectors.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today announced a local project as part of 34 projects across Victoria that will share in $70 million under Round 3 of the Non-Government Schools Capital Fund, which is delivering new schools, increasing capacity and providing modern facilities, as well as supporting the removal of asbestos and cladding.

Wyndham Christian College, which is a campus of Heatherton Christian College, will receive $3 million in funding for the construction of a two storey student learning centre which consists of 16 flexible learning spaces, student welfare spaces, breakout spaces, staff offices, student and staff amenities, and many other other features.

More than one third of Victorian students attend Catholic or independent schools – and this $402 million fund is ensuring students across the state are benefitting from new schools and better, more modern school infrastructure.

In the past seven years, the Labor Government has invested more than $10.9 billion in building new schools across the state and more than 1,700 school upgrades, creating 13,500 jobs in construction and through the supply chain.
