BUILDING BETTER BRIDGES TO KEEP VICTORIA MOVING

The Andrews Labor Government is strengthening bridges on one of Melbourne’s busiest transport corridors to improve the efficiency of our freight network.

Member for Werribee Tim Pallas today announced $3.2 million to upgrade bridges on the Princes Freeway between Werribee South and Railway Avenue in Laverton.

The works are part of the $41 million Stronger Bridges, Stronger Economy program which is upgrading 17 bridges on key arterial freight routes across the state to allow for High Productivity Freight Vehicles.

Strengthening the bridges will remove vehicle load limits that restrict higher mass freight vehicles, including semi-trailers and B-doubles, travelling between Geelong and regional Victoria and Port of Melbourne.

The upgrades will help to reduce costs for transport operators by increasing the efficiency of freight movements along the Princes Freeway corridor.

Works are expected to start this year.
